My name is Vincent and I am a financial professional possessing results-oriented experience in accounting and financial management. I am a Certified Public Accountant with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. I have significant experience in the design and setup of general ledger accounts, preparation and analysis of financial statements, management of all Income Statement and Balance Sheet items, management of the monthly close process including preparation of account reconciliation and variance analysis, and performance of internal audit procedures. My tutoring experience includes successful hands-on mentoring of many employees in numerous Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and accounting procedures as well as various financial and cost analysis strategies. I have tutored employees who have returned to college to study accounting and helped them to understand these Accounting Principles which I consider the building blocks on which successful accountants must base their understanding of accounting and finance. Accounting is “The Language of Business” and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are the basis of that language and are the guidelines to be followed when determining the required treatment and recording of various types of financial activity. I believe that students must understand that, even though they are related, there is a difference between bookkeeping and accounting. Through my experience I have found that the most effective method to develop one’s accounting knowledge is through the use of various types of examples that demonstrate and reinforce the underlying principle(s) being learned and well as repetition of the various exercises. This will allow the student to apply their accounting knowledge to the various types of financial situations that they will invariably encounter. Bottom line….I want my students to be able to understand why they are treating financial information in a certain way as well as how to approach accounting for new financial situations they may encountered.
